Southend of Barrie. We have a  White Crowned Sparrow feeding off our feeder. It's a neat looking little beauty with a whacky black and white striped head helmut pattern.
I read where they are abundantly found out west, but are also found throughout North America at different times of the year. The map shows an overlapping area where they come around here in central Ontario in the off season on their way somewhere better.

A male "GROSBEAK is also around a lot as well this week with his bright red chested birthmark. He's been fighting with the local Cardinals for the seeds on the ground. They were doing some ground level beak-sparing the other day. The Cardinal won.

I also had a White Crowned Sparrow in my Burlington garden early yesterday morning.  I have never seen one before.  I managed to get a fairly good photo.

We've had 5 white-crowned sparrows in our yard (Kitchener, ON) for the last three weeks.  We've never seen them here before.  I hope they stick around!
