Took a quick midafternoon stroll on the Spit, only as far as the first bay with the tern platform. But we still spotted a lot of birds and other wildlife. Birds included cormorants, Canada geese, mallards, longtails, common mergansers, RWBB, many yellow-rumpted warblers, a few yellow warblers, a pine warbler, ruby crowned kinglets, grackles, cowbirds, tree swallows, common terns, mute swans, a northern pintail, at least 6 canvasbacks, white throated sparrows, white crowned sparrows, song sparrows, robins, a winter wren, and some kildeers. We also saw several eastern cottontails, several voles of undetermined species, and a garter snake.
