We had a great time this weekend on the Spit. It had been so quiet we were worried the migration was over before it began.

Some highlights:

A Scarlet Tanager very comfortably feeding allowing great views: Scarlet Tanager

About 20 Warbler species easily seen: Magnolia, Northern Parula, Palm, Black Poll, Bay Breasted, Chestnut Sided, Yellow Rumped, Yellow, Common Yellowthroat, American Redstart, Blackburnian, Black Throated Blue, Cape May, Wilson's, Nashville, Tennessee. Others saw Mourning, Black and White, Black Throated Green.

Vireos, Catbirds, Flycatchers, Thrushes, Orioles (both), Gnatcatchers, etc. etc.

Sometimes it is hard to know where to look.

We were at the baselands to the right (west) of the main entrance. It is very wet so boots are a good idea. Unless you like wet feet.
Cheers,

Bernie

The Spit is at the end of Leslie street south of Lakeshore Blvd. It is closed during the week. You can walk through the baselands during the week but you do so against the signs.
