You are correct, the tall bird is a Great Blue Heron.
For the picture- giving the link to Flicker works well, however if you would like your photos to appear in the future then what you'll want to do is right-click on the photo you want included from Flicker and select "Copy image Location". Then paste the link into your message with "

" at the end, so it looks like this:
Finally, delete everything between ".jpg" and "[/img]" (so in this case delete the "?v=0")
The picture should then show up, like this:
