We haven't been to the spit in awhile and Norm's postings made me realize we had to go. The weather this morning kept me dithering, so we didn't get down there until noon. But, we did see some good birds, among the usual suspects. There was 1 Common Nighthawk, Eastern Kingbirds, 1 Great Egret, 1 Long-tailed Duck, 1 Cedar Waxwing, 1 juvenile Black-crowned Night-heron, 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, 1 Belted Kingfisher (at the beaver pond) and a Cooper's Hawk being mobbed (also at the pond).
There were Monarchs everywhere. My husband always sees the other wildlife. He spotted a 3-foot long Garter Snake, also near the pond.
