Cedarvale Swifts

I've been away, so forgive me if this topic has been discussed. BUT, as I sit in my Cedarvale yard (southwest corner, Bathurst and Eglinton), watching the Chimney Swifts swooping and chittering above me and off to the southwest (over Cedarvale Ravine?), it occurs to me to wonder where they have nested, where they are roosting. Does anyone know where the Cedarvale Swifts go at night?

all i know is that the missus really wants to see a swift. so if you can kindly PM me with a little more info on where we can go to see them, and what time of day is best), it would be great.

Swifts usually roost on buildings - chimneys, tower sections. I don't know the Cedarvale area well enough to venture a guess where they go, but look around for those structures.

To yogistewart, come by Broadview and Gerrard. There is a large Presbyterian church one block north that serves as a roost. We see swifts here all day - over Victor and Simpson streets.

I think you mentioned you were near downtown... so there should be some flying above you as we speak.  Where are you located?

Broadview and Gerrard is extremely close.
as you can guess from the majority of my posts, I am right beside Beachwood and the Don River.

just wondering what "time" is the best? and if photos would turn out

If it isn't raining, the swifts around Broadview and Gerrard are usually out all day. They are particularly noisy and active in the late afternoon and early evening. Photos might be a challenge since they are often quite high up and swerve around pretty fast. If you have a good zoom, you can probably get some pix.
