Two yards over from our backyard, there is a large Aspen tree. On Sunday, after the morning rain, an immature Cooper's Hawk flew into the Aspen to dry off. It landed on a bare branch, then spread its wings and tail out. I've seen vultures, anhingas and cormorants doing this to dry off, but never a hawk. The bird kept peering over its shoulder to watch the area. At one point, it hopped to another branch and did the same thing. It looked so beautiful!

I do love to bird in my backyard Leslie.  It is so nice when they come to you.  Wonderful to have the cooper hawk and to watch him so closely.
