I was sitting on a bench, when I spotted a big male White-tailed Deer. He was a real beauty. I called to Lee,and the deer stopped in its tracks to look around,so Lee and I got nice shots of the deer.

Hi Moira. Raptors started to migrate past the park in early August, but very few. In the last 2 weeks though things have been great. To date we have seen 185 birds of prey, since Aug1. Sunday looks very promising. Watch for northwest winds. Please join us whenyou can ,Im pretty hard to miss. Between now and the end of October we should see 4000-5000 birds of prey. The best time of day is between 10am and 2pm. Things pick up considerably in the 2nd week of September, but any north element winds should bring a decent number of birds now. My blog of whats being seen is at http://raptorwatch.blogspot.com Please understand most of the birds are migrating past the park, sometimes we get lucky and they land.

Thanks for the info BigFrank.  I wonder if I met you last Saturday morning?  There was a wedding party being photographed and I spoke to two guys by the bluffs.  They mentioned there wasn't too much activity, lots of cedar waxwings in the trees.  Anyway, I'll be down for sure - likely on the w/e, due to the drive.

There is a watch in your area..2 infact. One at Cranberry Marsh in Whitby on Halls Road and another at Iriquois Shoreline. There is a Family Raptor Day at Cranberry Marsh on Sept 3.
Of course you are more then welcome to join us. Id imagine you may have spoken with some combination of myself, walter and/or Dave. Things are very wind dependant this time of year.
