I just wanted to share some photos I took in Alaska. I apologize for the poor image quality, I was just so overwhelmed by the sheer number of Eagles (somewhere in the range of 100) that I never thought to actually stop and focus properly. Hope you enjoy
Meg

if one wanted a cheaper trip and to keep their tourist $$ in Canada, Newfoundland is a pretty good place to see bald eagles.
we saw a few off of Bay Bulls (south of St John's on the Irish Loop).
not nearly as plentiful as posted in these pictures here, but still relatively easy to find

Hey Mark,
Thank you.
They are incredible birds. It was amazing to see them all.
There is a place in Alaska where they sit at the edge of a river and wait for the last Salmon run of the season, where the giant King Salmon come to spawn and the Eagles know it is the last all you can eat buffet of the year. At any given moment at this time of year there is no less than 2 thousand birds there.
Now that is something I would LOVE to see.

Meg

Very cool shots. When was this?

For BE's in Canada, BC is the place. Brackendale gets thousands in the winter, and we saw many in and around Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

The head shot is spectacular.  I know what you mean about getting excited.  There were lots in Cape Breton this summer too.  We were taken aback as well.

Kin,
I was visiting Alaska in mid June. Would love to see then in BC,  with the background scenery only Vancouver Island can provide.

Moira,
Thanks for your comment. It is awesome to see them so close.
