Hi Folks,
This afternoon while BIGFRANK and I were debating on whether or not we should end the Raptor Watch for the day, an American Snout butterfly decided that it would stop by and pay us a visit. It was flying low to the ground and either stopped and rested on the flowers or on the interlocking brickwork close to the fountain, at one point it flew up and landed on top of Frank's backpack which was right beside him on the bench. The Snout appearred to arrive from the east and may have flown right out of the park to the west, don't know. We'll look for it again tomorrow morning for sure.
The American Snout is listed as being a
"very uncommon migrant with no evidence of breeding here" according to The Butterflies Of The Toronto Region - TEA publication.
