Hello All,

Once again I am looking for information.
I wish to thank everyone for responding to questions I and many others have asked.
I am sure everyone new to this hobby is gratefull for all the tips and advice you all generously hand out.
So now I am asking for more. :)

Has anyone been to Riverwood Park?
I have walked my dogs along the path to the river in the spring but did not stop to observe the wildlife.
Shame on me in my pre birding days.
Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Meg

Hi Meg.

Yes, a beautiful park which I've been walking at for years.   :D

Check out the feeders by the MacEwan House and feeders front & back outside of the Chappell House - while there, go inside & check out the interesting photos/reading.

Another good spot is the pond right by the main parking lot.  Usually a good variety of birds, butterflies and dragonflies.

Lots of wildlife - eg. deer, at this park ... spotted in various locations.

Lots of bats at Riverwood Park at night.

Please read this following article re: Hogweed at Riverwood.   :(

Apparently it's up here somewhere in Meadowvale too!  Arrgh.    How nice that the City won't identify WHERE in Meadowvale it has been found!!!    This information would be quite useful since I'm out for daily nature walks and birding at the parks up here.

Could be. Either way, it's a good idea to stay away from anything that looks even remotely like it.

Thanks Jo-Anne for the information. I will be there at around 7am Tuesday morning so hopefully there is alot of activity going on. Do you normally walk around down by the Credit River or up top through those woods?

Hi Meg.  You're welcome.  :)

I start out at Riverwood Park up top by the pond/barn/visual arts centre/MacEwan House then go through the woods then head down alongside the Credit River at Erindale Park and walk South a bit to the pond/swamp (on East/left side of main trail) - great spot for bird, wildlife and "critter" sightings!  (Usually continue a bit further South from here and once in a blue moon, will head right down to Dundas St.)

Afterwards, I head back up to Riverwood Park and walk around back by the Chappell House and through the surrounding woods to the North and East.  Lots of woods and trails here!  :D
