Although overall the numbers were low and some birds were pretty darn high (some even getting lost in the clouds), from my perspective, it was a stellar day to see details on some interesting birds!
There were the usual wonderful suspects: Sharp Shin Hawks, American Kestrels, Red Tail Hawks and some graceful Turkey Vulture trios and quads. But there were also:
3 (could be 4) Peregrine Falcons
Merlins (don't know how many)
Northern Harrier (that I sadly missed)
Ospreys
and the best of all...10 Bald Eagles in various stages of maturity!
There were hundreds of Blue Jays doing their fall fly-by through the park.
On top of that, as always, the Hill clan, without hesitation, nurture newbie raptor-watching skills and desires with open-armed generosity, patience and humour and that makes for an incredibly wonderful visit!! So grateful to and for them!
Here's hoping for NW winds and a wee bit of cloud against a brilliant blue sky!!
