Saw well over 100 turkey vultures soaring southward high in the sky yesterday in Glen Williams. There may well have been many more as they well at cloud level. Have never seen Turkey Vultures on migration so was quite enthralled.

The peak migration time for Turkey Vultures is Thanksgiving weekend.

Yep, and they keep coming. Just saw two groups of 20 and 50 birds passing over downtown Toronto.

Can't express how exciting it was seeing so many today!

First, I personally counted more than 50 over the Queensway at the south end of Grenadier Pond then with the group on Hawk Hill, saw well over 300 this afternoon and after I finally (and sadly) tore myself away from the Hill, I was gifted with at least another 40 or so on Bloor St West in Spadina to Bathurst area (the latest group of which was 10 minutes ago)!

STUNNING and RKD, I couldn't have said it better... it was totally enthralling!!!

Oh... and assume nothing... with the practiced eyes of the Hawk Hill gang, nestled in amongst the TVs they pointed out a Bald Eagle and a Harrier!

Oh yes, it was a great day!

Funny that TVs peak on Thanksgiving... coincidence?

Happy Thanksgiving all,
Angie

I stayed home from BIGFRANK's Raptor Watch at Rosetta McClain Gardens to do some much needed work out in the backyard and still managed to see 127 Turkey Vultures fly through the neighbourhood down low, many going right over the house.  What an incredible sight.  VultureFest anyone?  :D
