After yesterdays 114 raptors, which included 31 Harriers, todays mix changed again. Today Colin,Charlie and I as well as others whose names escape me sorry, observed 119 raptors. Early birds were Kestrels, and later Sharpies were the predominant raptor. A Merlin circled the park several times, making hunting ventures, flying out of sight back to the east, before eventually moving on to the west. At one stage the Merlin was very near a Kestrel, allowing a great comparison. Todays 119 raptors included a Bald Eagle,a Redtail,2 Northern Harriers,65 Sharpshinned Hawks,48 American Kestrels and 2 Merlins. Year to date(aug-present) 575.
