Brickworks still has some good activity

hey,
came back from the Brickworks today. i'll start off by saying that I'm getting better activity in my backyard feeder (downy woodpecker, nuthatches, cardinals, finches), but the Brickworks was a nice change of scenery.

if you go, i suggest heading to the back western pond with the "waterfall" path. that's where i saw everything.

lots of really pretty starlings in winter plumage. they are lining the trees in groups and i think they are beautiful birds this time of year. i posted pictures on the photo page.
there are also goldfinches moulting into winter plumage (thanks for the bird ID on the bird page). there are a few hopping around and bathing in the waterfall's puddles.
also saw a great blue heron fly high from Bayview in a circle over the Brickworks and it headed northeast. not sure if it went to fish on the Don somewhere, but i guess the herons aren't leaving town just yet.
no birds of prey but we've seen some in the neighbourhood lately, so odds are the local red tailed hawks are still around.
there were 5 ducks (mallards, methinks) swimming in the ponds.

not as busy as the spring/summer, but still lovely this time of year.
