I explored the brushy fields between Hawk Hill and the baseball grounds this morning. A large mixed flock included Fox (3), White-throated, Chipping and American Tree (first of season for me) Sparrows as well as numerous Dark-eyed Juncos and American Goldfinches. A few Song Sparrows kept to themselves nearby.
My surprise of the day was an Eastern Meadowlark which sang 3 or 4 times over a 45 minute period. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the bird and finally gave up.
