the Sibley's is a very good guide, even the little pocket one.
How i got sapsucker is there is not enough white on the back ,downys and hairys have a big white patch on the back ,these woodpeckers don't. You have a juvenile with the brown head and a female with the red cap ,probably mother and kid
,where and when you take them? Have seen sapsuckers breed in the Long point area so are around but usually just see them the most during migration.
