I was in Pomona Mills Park a few days ago and a small flock of waxwings was sharing the same tree with robins, starlings and goldfinches (safety in numbers?), and of course there were also a few very noisy chickadees and a lone cardinal nearby. A bit further west in the park I saw at least four downy woodpeckers and a few mourning doves.
Pomona Mills Park runs east-west north of John Street between Bayview and Yonge; from Bayview and John drive west on John St. and enter the park at the bottom of the hill (east of Henderson). Park in the lot (parking is free!) and walk west across the soccer field (the multi-bird tree was on the north side of the soccer field) and pick up the path at the west end of the field. Very nice park, lots of birds during the winter months and a friend of mine who lives on the north side of the park, west of Henderson, spotted a snowy owl there a couple of years ago!
