So I'm out feeding the feathered denizens and when I come back to the seed bucket I caught this little guy red...  pawed?

He's not cute...interloper is a mild term...good thing he's in your bucket and not stealing the tulip bulbs you invested in, taking advantage of the home improvement tax credit...I can't even watch those two irritating cartoon chipmunks anymore....brrrrrrr.....the only thing that rivals them are the damn skunks that rip up my lawn looking for grubs and my garbage nws that I never have organic garbage....

Axeman ... I guess you wouldn't enjoy visiting High Park and having chipmunks sitting on your lap, shoulder, head, etc.

btw - is that beagle wearing the bell still in your neighbourhood or was that just driving you crazy back in the Spring?   :P

Jo-Anne  :)

p.s. - the chipmunk IS cute.  (hehe)

Axeman,

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't had the best experiences with chipmunks...  This guy is fairly inocuous, lives under the deck and pops out to clean up the seed mess that the blue jays create under the feeders.  Squirrels and coons are the big pains out here, and coyotes but that's another story.  I was trapping a coon a day at one point this year...

I take it you are a city dweller.  Out here in the forest if we planted tulips we'd have a whole menagerie tromping through the garden.  Daffodils and Narcissuses (Narcissi?) are the safe bets here.

Happy birding.
