For those who maintain winter lists:  Today around noon there was an immature Black-crowned Night-Heron roosting in one of the trees at the mouth of Mimico Creek, just south of the footbridge.

I didn't get over to Humber Bay East to see if the Great Blue Herons were still there.

I was checking Humber Bay West for the Harlequin Duck.  No luck with that one.

I was 'on the dark side' (east) after 2.30pm. The GBH was there in a similar position to Mehjans picture a few weeks ago (posted 14/11/09). If it wasn't for that post, I would have missed him (so thanks Meghan).
Didn't see the night heron (mind, the light was terrible by the time I got around to the bridge, working around 800-1600 ISO, not good).
Apart from the GBH, saw kingfisher, american widgeon (such a pretty bird), buffleheads, hoodied mergansers, ring bills and herring gulls, house sparrows, mallards, kingfisher.
My highlight was a kestrel who perched on a branch 50ft away, affording me some semi-decent shots (low light, ISO 400).
Still, missed the other heron, darn.
