A good couple of hours this morning at Sam Smith produced 58 species. The bowl was very active with hundreds of R.C. Kinglets, many Flickers, Hermit Thrushes and Creepers, 3 Towhees, 2 Thrashers, Chipping, White-throated and Fox Sparrows. Several Pine and Yellow-rumped warblers and 1 NASHVILLE hanging around with a BLUE-HEADED VIREO.
In and around the docks were Red-necked and Horned Grebes, Red-breasted and Hooded Mergansers and a single Redhead. Tree, Barn and N. Rough-winged Swallows as well as two Purple Martins and a Belted Kingfisher were around and at least 5 Common Loons, tons of Bufflehead, some Long-tails and a Wood Duck were seen out on the water.
It wasn't until I parked at Rotary park (one block east of Sam Smith) that I got the HARLEQUIN at approx 1pm this afternoon. It was swimming around with the Bufflehead midway between Rotary Park's Western Shore and the Eastern-most point of Sam Smith.
