it was perfect weather for heading down to the Spit. Unfortunately, I only had a few hours and I probably could have spent all day exploring the Spit.
if you like waterfoul, the Spit is a great place to head. LOTS of long-tailed ducks swimming at the harbour/yacht club just southwest of the Spit's entrance. they're very talkative and you can't miss them. there were some mallards and buffleheads (I believe) as well and one other duck I have to try to identify (looks like a mix between a mallard and a long-tailed duck minus the tail but with a big happyface).
there are also LOTS of beautiful swans on the west side further up the Spit. i would guess that i saw thirty?
i didn't spot any owls in my limited time.
