i went out yesterday,with the intention on practising flight shots,but lake scugog is frozen,and no ducks,geese,or gulls were to be found,so i headed for the local back roads.i spotted 3 hawks,in about i hr. this red tail seemed a bit unusual,due to his very dark head.i was experimenting with the canon 40-d/canon 300 f/4+1.4x extender,which should be easier to hand-hold to track the birds in flight,than the much heavier 500 f/4.unfortunately the bird,once airborne,headed right into the sun,in my field of view. maybe next time!operator error.i should of placed myself differently.i apologize for the soft focus
