Spent a beautiful day outside today.
I had just decided to head for home, when I heard the distinctive call of a Pileated Woodpecker.
He landed in a tree 20ft above my head and stayed there while I photographed him for 20 minutes.
Getting these shots made my day!
I am so happy to have been able to get some great images (in my opinion) of this beautiful male.
One of these is going up on my wall!
Enjoy
Meghan

Nice shooting Meghan, fantastic find, you can tag along on our next outting to bring us luck, the owls and birds seem to like you. I hope to get a Pileated this year too. Photo #5 is my favourite as well.

Although #5 is a great shot I would go for #6 just for the character. Love that over the shoulder look

Wow!!
Thanks everyone.
I'm glad you all enjoyed these shots.
I've been trying to get some keepers of Pileated Woodpeckers for a while now (just ask Crystal)
Clemens...I'm game to go anywhere.
I'm off Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's every week. So anyone is welcome to PM me with a day or so notice and I'm there!!
Thanks again all of you.
I was so happy to be able to photograph one of these birds.
I've seen them a few times, heard them often but I never get any really good shots. they are very skittish and usually don't hang around. But this guy was only interested in getting an early dinner so I took full advantage. 400 frames shot over my head full advantage.  :D
Again..worth the drive to Presquile!!!
Meghan
**I'm a little torn on which one I like the best..I'm leaning towards the over- the -shoulder shot as well**
