I birded Presqu'ile for four hours today and stumbled upon a nice variety of birds as I poked my head into every nook and cranny.
I saw one barred owl on the Jobes' woods trail, a very passive bird that let me observe it for five minutes or so.
I spotted a Northern Shrike on Bayshore road, a red winged blackbird, white and red-breasted nuthtach at a feeder on byashore as well. There was a brown creeper near the bird sightings board and a female snowy owl on the Owen Point Trail not too far from the channel to gull island. I also spotted the Northern Harrier coming back from gull island.
All in all a great winter outing with some nice surprises.
Oh yeah there were also a small flock of between 30-40 snow buntings on the beach along the Owen point trail. I spotted them from lookout #2 and I think 2 white winged scoters near Chatterton Point.
Cheers
