I came across two coyotes in High Park on Saturday, was able to snap some sweet shots of the male, and two were used by The Toronto Star in print and online today. There was an accompanying story with the images saying people should be wary of their pets when they know there are coyotes in the area. I'd say that's basic common sense. The coyotes were not aggresive at all and I was able to get about 15 feet away for the shots. It was pretty cool! Not sure, but it looks like the male coyote may have a little fox in him by his reddish/fluffy appearance.

The sad thing was the female has a bad case of mange and was scratching a lot. She has some missing patches of hair and her tail is missing about 8 inches of hair from the tip of the tail. I believe she is the coyote in ravynne40's High Park Coyote post. I called the Toronto Wildlife Service to let them know - the only problem is how elusive coyotes can be to treat them.
I was there again today for 6 hours and yesterday for 3 and couldn't find them at all. Saw some tracks in the fresh snow but that was it. I did get to hand feed some chickadees, white and red breasted nuthatch, and 1 female Downy Woodpecker which was cool. Saw some cardinals, juncos, hairy woodpecker, and a hawk of some sorts by the zoo parking lot - was probably the Red Tailed Hawk I've photographed in the area before.
Anyway, below are the images they did use:
