It was a cold wind day down at Lasalle that day. Got to meet Denis.

Tundra Swan. Couldn't get a clean full body shot with all the waterfowl there.

Hi,
I'm confused over the identity of this bird. The yellow on the facial skin should mean it's a Tundra Swan.
However, this bird is tagged, and as far as I know they only tag Trumpeters. Also the facial skin near the eye is almost as wide as the eye, which is a character for Trumpeter. Did you happen to notice any significant size difference between this bird and the Trumpeters?

i was there also and photographed this swan,and i can tell you that it was significantly smaller than the trumpeters.as a matter of fact the trumpeters were constantly harrassing him.

Denis, I guess it must be a Tundra Swan then. The tag was puzzling to me. Please post if you find out anything about the bird from the tag.

Once again I thank you all for your comments.

As Denis had said this Swan was indeed smaller than the Trumpeters.
I really don't know to much about the taging system to comment on why this one was tagged.

There are tagging projects involving Tundra's, however this tag number is unknown as far as online resources go.
