I believe she was resting as she stayed in the same pose for about a minute.
Once she started to move her body stretched out.

Very nice!  Can I ask where Lambton Woods is?  I'm planning to hit the west end spots on Saturday.  Thanks.

yeah, the city of Toronto map is pretty crappy in explaining where it is (mentioned Tommy Thompson Park as a trail reference).

that's a cool picture. never heard of P woodpeckers resting. he was probably playing with your mind.

Enter off Edenbridge Dr. east off Royal York (N.of Humbertown Plaza). Lambton stretches south from James Gardens. There are several trails and side areas to explore but stick to trails and paths the woods can be very soft underfoot even in winter. The main bike/pedestrian thoroughfare runs south all the way to Old Mill subway but is most productive  from Dundas to James G. Don't neglect any open water sections of the Humber R. (gulls, ducks, Merg's.)

i took a stroll through the park today. first, thanks for letting me know about such a great park! i wish i'd visited it earlier.
the only downers? some crazy lady feeding the ducks near the parking lot with packs of crackers (no wonder they didn't fly south for the winter) and lots of dogs running off leash.

i saw lots of signs of P woodpeckers but didn't see the bird itself. saw lots of everything else, including robins, common and red-headed mergansers, the usual woodpecker suspects, a lovely male and female cardinal and some blue jays doing their best red-tailed hawk immitation (was pretty funny to hear them scream).

Very nice shots Zed, Lambton Woods is my old stompin' grounds many years ago, great place for bird activity.
