I spent an hour at this park. LOTS of bird activity compared to other places I've visited this winter.
no luck in finding Woodrow P Woodpecker, but saw lots of large holes in tree that showed he'd been around.

two blue jays were doing their best hawk calls, which was pretty cool to hear.  they were around some trees about 2 minutes south of James Gardens' parking lot, along with chickadees, nuthatches, some downy woodpeckers and cardinals.

his girlfriend was with him, but hidden among the branches.

p.s. -spring is coming soon! so says Mr Cardinal.

I agree with Denis, Yogi really nice pics excellent colour and detail!!

PS...if you really want to know when it's spring look for the RWBB then you know for sure it's spring, the Cardinals, and Robins are staying all year so for me I wait for the notorious RWBB...anyway just my observation over the past few years...

 Colin ... very true!  I consider it officially Spring once a male RWBB at Lake Aquitaine attacks from the rear, pecks my head, flies to a nearby branch, looks at me and has the gall to laugh!  Last year he got me in March so let's see what happens this year.

Yogi ... nice photos!

Excellent shots Yogi - I find the cardinals a little elusive - both are beautiful birds.
