Good evening guys.
Did another trip to The Islands today and the weather made me glad I was down there.
Not a lot of birds compared to past weeks but there were still some goodies to be found. I started out on Wards Island and even though it was fairly quiet I did observe 600+ Red-winged Blackbirds flying west in the early morning. Just west of the Fire Station on Wards I found an Orange-crowned Warbler, 2 late Red-eyed Vireos, and a Grey-cheeked Thrush.
Some of the other birds found were a Peregrine Falcon at the airfield on Hanlans, 16 N. Flickers, 9 E. Phoebes, Brown Creepers, House Wren & Winter Wrens, both Kinglets, lots of Chickadees, 26 Hermit Thrushes, G. Catbirds, Field, Fox, Chipping, Song, Swamp, White-throated and White-crowned Sparrows, Juncos, E. Towhee and 4 Palm Warblers including 1 uncommon "Yellow Palm Warbler" .
Avery nice day to be out and about.
