We have a burgeoning population in grey bruce....but I never get over my thrill at seeing them...although the local farmers consider them a menace...apparently, large flocks, they create a huge mess and environmental concerns b/c they scratch through manure piles....yech...I think I'll stick to the farm raised turkeys.....
About a month ago I saw a tom in full display and I was amazed at how much bigger they seem with their plummage puffed out...
I found that they are attracted to some degree (not as much as the deer and grouse), to our small apple orchard...I presume its for the old windfallen apples under the snow but I never see them eating or scratching for them...
Is there a type of feed that attracts them? Corn ? Cow manure?
