Red-tailed Hawk Sequence

There was a very cooperative Red-tailed Hawk was hanging around Humber Bay Park East this morning.  I captured this sequence as she/he took off from a lamp post.  I was amazed to see that the camera's autofocus system was able to track the bird even after it flew behind a tree. :shock:











These were shot on the same CCFEW walk where we saw Coopers Hawk with prey already posted by Irene.

Great series Brian - sounds like the walk was well worth it.  I was there later this afternoon, after hitting Burlington Lift Lock and LaSalle Marina.  It was pretty quiet.

Irene:  I use a flight brace designed/built by a guy in Oshawa specifically for flight shots.  I always shot off a tripod and with this brace have been hand holding - much more flexibility.  I use it all the time -  gives you that little bit more stability.  If you're interested, you can PM me for his contact info.

I believe the same bird was on a lamp post at Humber West on Wednesday as that one was also very cooperative.
