Hi there, (I'm new, so be kind..)
I took the dog for a walk around Ashbridges Bay this afternoon and the marina was filled with wonderful ducks.
Notably Ring-necked ducks, which I've never seen there before. There were several pairs of them.
Also a beautiful Male Hooded Merganser was preening like crazy but I didn't see his lady around.
And the usuals; long tailed, buffleheads, golden eyes (one with a strange looking eye spot but I couldn't say if it were a barrows or hybrid or not), gadwalls, scaups, mallards, and common mergansers.
The Gulls are now on the docks as the ice is all gone but there are still a few iceland gulls visible among the ring bills.
Also saw a couple of red-winged black birds, a kingfisher and a couple of chickadees.
This morning on my way to work I saw a rather plump looking mockingbird and a robin.
Spring is definitely on it's way. I can't wait for the warblers!
