First, i have to give some quick background so you understand the (lack of) quality of some of the pictures.
my regular camera's in the shop for another 3-5 weeks. I'm now shooting with a D40. i took it out today for the first time and found out that the D40 isn't compatible with my lens.
so....the next 3-5 weeks will be filled with the joys of manual focus.

Here are some pictures of one of the two kingfishers flying around the Brickworks.

i tried to take some flight pictures. that was a little tricker when manually focusing.

This is near the top of my list for spring/summer.  You must be frustrated with your camera situation, especially as you're seeing such great birds.

frustrated? sort of. i'm still getting pictures, so who really cares. its just taking a lot more work to get pictures. i like chalenges, so all is good.

moira, get to the Brickworks within the week. and get there in the AM. the back ponds are frozen so the kingfishers are fishing/diving in the front pond. get a seat near the south side of the front pond and wait and wait and you may get great pics.

Thanks Richard.  Unfortunately, I'm working all week and going on holidays Friday.  Hope to get some great shots.

Thanks for the tip. Friday may be a good day, or if I can swing it, Thursday morning. Weather forecast is good for both days.

(say hi to a poor Sony user (emphasis on the poor, the camera is great for me), rarely seen amongst large flocks or Nikon and Canon users).

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.
