Lots of bird on the Spit today. I spent the morning at Pipit point and the afternoon in the Base woods. 61 species all together for the day with highlights including Red-throated loons, Surf scoters, a late Iceland gull, Bobolinks, Rose-breasted grosbeak, and 6 warbler species. Lots of sparrows, white-throated in the hundreds and plenty of Field and Swamp sparrows too.

Impressive list - must have been a great day!  Would love to see a Bobolink (and a few others on the list!)  Do they stick around at the Spit?

No, they are moving through. But they could definitely stay for a coupling of days, especially considering the rainy weather today. Look in the tree tops in the woodland at the base of the spit.

I was only able to stop by briefly today, but saw a Baltimore Oriole for the first time this year, plus several Blue-gray Gnatcatchers.  Heard, but did not see, a Northern Parula.
