My husband is wanting to take some pictures of hawks.  We are thinking of heading down around Cayuga, Fisherville area and/or Amherst Island over the holidays.  We have been cruising some of the backroads and not much luck.  Of course, we realized it's all about timing, location etc.  Never fails we see lots near the road when the camera and bincs are left at home and you're going somewhere, so you won't have time to stop anyway!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanking you in advance for suggestions.

Merry Christmas and Good Birding

Amherst Island is a very good spot for hawks/owls. There are plenty in the fields hunting such as: rough-legged; harriers; & red-tailed. Of course owl woods almost always has long-eared owls in abundance, with the occassional snowy and short-eared to be found.

If you live in the Mississauga area there is a red tailed hawk that lives around tomken and eastgate parkway . He is always hunting around the arena there .
