Hi,

This is my first post at this forum, so please forgive any forum faux pas I may commit.
I need help identifying a bird I saw in Earl Rowe park in Alliston (40 minutes north of GTA as the car drives).
Unfortunately I have no photos. The closest bird I could find in appearance in my guides was the greater crested flycatcher.

Appearance - shape: similar to a greater crested flycatcher but larger, longer and more slender, crest on head / colouration: similar to a greater crested flycatcher but much brighter. The yellow on the breast was closer to that of a male goldfinch at the height of breeding, the red on the wing covers was closer to that of a male cardinal and slightly more extensive in coverage than the flycatcher. The head seemed to be much darker.

Song - crazy. very loud, very musical and changing all the time

Behaviour - flying from tree top to tree top singing his heart out. Tail wagged in a ticking up and down fashion very similar to a wagtail (British name - not sure what the equivalent would be here)

I only managed to see this guy clearly once for about 5 minutes at a distance of about 30 feet. The next two times I could only hear him.
Any help identifying him would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Tom
