Had quite a good day birding at the Leslie Spit aka Tommy Thompson Park today. Saw 2 Northern Saw-whet Owls and 2 Long-eared owls! There were more owls than birders
Also noteworthy saw a young Tundra Swan out by a sandbar looking towards the Toronto Islands where the 2 paths meet.
On Pipit Point was a Northern Shrike and had a Northern Goshawk flyby and 2 American Kestrels in diff parts of the spit.
Songbirds were scarce but saw 2 golden crowned kinglets with a flock of american tree sparrows and chickadees. Also near the first empoundment was a brushy pile that had a few song sparrows and a swamp sparrow. The usual ducks and gulls were about. Just a nice winter day birding on the Spit as usual.
