Eastern Kingbird in my eavestrough

I have been living in Meaford for three years and this is the first year that I have seen an Eastern Kingbird at close range.  Actually, there is a pair of them and they have constructed a nest in the eavestrough at the back of my house.  I really enjoying watching them and listening to thier "chatter".  I often get to see one of them sitting on the satellite dish on the roof.  Both of them are quite aggressive in protecting the nest and will quickly go after other birds who venture too close, especially crows or gulls. Since most of the information I have read about the Eastern Kingbird indicates that they tend to live away from an urban local, I am surprised that they have chosen to nest in my eavestrough.  My development has very few large trees and is fairly open to the elements, especially when the wind is off Georgian Bay.  If anyone has info to share, I would like to know more about my visitors.

I love watching these birds and your right, the usual place to spot them is perched on a fence beside a crop field as their primary food are small insects.  They are very territorial and I've never been able to get very close to one.  They also have the ability to hover for a few moments before diving on their prey.  Fun to watch.
