Species: Black-Bellied Whistling Duck (Dendrocygna autumnalis)
Location: South of Picton Ontario in Milford
Normal Range: The Black-bellied Whistling-Duck is a common bird on the Mexico coast. To the south, its range extends throughout Central America, and across much of South America. In the United States, it can be found year-round in parts of southeast Texas, and seasonally in southeast Arizona, and Louisiana's Gulf Coast. It is a rare breeder in such disparate locations as Florida, Arkansas, and South Carolina.
Note: I am not the first birder to originally find this rarity.
Sorry about the link, I have not figured out how to find the image data since they upgraded flickr.

Great capture.  I've been reading the reports and debating a trip ... that's as far as I've got!

I've been receiving the incessant postings from the ONTBIRDS folks, and I'm sure many of you have too...
It's a 3 hr. drive from T.O.
All that for a duck?
Hmm, who knows?

Hey - you need to plan some other trips around it - like a stop at Presquile, Oshawa Second Marsh for a glimpse at the American Pelican ...
You can justify anything if you try :)
