Blue-gray gnatcatcher, N. waterthrush- Second Marsh- July 26

I was there for sunrise yet again and though the selection wasn't as varied there was still lots to see. Its great to have such a prime location so close to home.


Highlights include:

-white pelican
-caspian and common terns
-trumpeter swans
-juvenile wood ducks
-green-winged teal
-yellow warbler-16
-common yellowthroat
-N. waterthrush-2
-families of orchard and northern orioles
-swamp sparrow
-blue-gray gnatcatcher
-warbling vireo

A good day, espcially given the time of year and the heat without end. Hopefully when I go to Long Sault on Thursday/Friday I'll see a greater variety.

I haven't had this kind of luck here.  Where are you walking?

Hi Moira.

I walk the Beeton path loop, through the cool hollow section and then along the lakeshore to the mouth of the creek as it converges with Lake Ontario. I rarely vary too much from that as I've found I always see the most birds on those sections.

I also forgot to mention I spotted a black tern on the eastern edge of Mclaughlin Bay flying westwards towards Lake Ontario.
