here is the Egret from today, He was not as entertaining as the heron but still very beautiful and co-operative.

Real close:

Poor little crayfish-his eyes are popping out!

I named this one "Take off eh?"..don't ask why lol I have no idea

Shadow

Fluffy:

I had a great morning, P.S. If you do go, watch out for fire ants, they hurt when they bite and I forgot the muskol! :)

Thanks for the kind comments,
Zed...as for the shadow, I was trying to be artistic (not sure it worked)
Denis I was very lucky, a little kid was saying to her father..."daddy look at the stork" well, I now we don't have storks here so I went to look and it was the Egret, then someone else pulled me over to the other side of the bridge and there was the heron, it was so cool.
Cody I like the fluffy bird look too, its not often you see them do that. :)

Ha ha! Very well done, my friend! I've been spending a lot of time with this fine fellow. Today, yesterday, the day before also. When things are pretty good, the egret is one side of the bridge and the GBH is on the other. Today, some goofball spooked away the both of them (a lot of creeps seem to lurk about this park) but the GBH flew back and in time so did the egret. A real delight!

Thanks!
I'm glad they came back, sometimes it just takes a few goofballs to scare off the birds and sometimes for good, so I'm really glad they came back!
Actually when I saw your post I thought I would check out Humber Bay East, I have had luck with hawks and even a merlin once, which was awesome, Its a great park all in all, and it is really a gem in spring with all the buffleheads and mergansers.

happy birding!

Nice shots - these birds seem quite tolerant in the Fall. You might try cropping them with more room to give the bird "somewhere to go" so to speak.

Cheers,

Nice find Irene.
Cool photos.
I've been to HBE a few times this year, the bridge is the territorial line, if the Egret crosses the GBH puts up a fuss till he retreats back to the other side. As long as the stay on either side all is right with their world.
It's nice to find them so close for a change, I just wish the angle was better.  They have picked a great spot ,you can only shot down on them. They let you get very close but they know, based on the growth around them, that you can'y get "that" close.

Thanks Meghan and Bernie, there wasn't much to crop, they were extremely close, but I will keep that in mind for future pictures..so the bird doesn't look so cramped up...
