I saw this on CTV News this evening.  An interesting story, and it just proves that you never know what's out there!

I did a project on those things in school last year. The worst part is that scientists are dumping poison that kills all fish into lakes that "may contain snakeheads". I was watching a video of them fishing through (no pun intended) the dead bodies of various species just to see if that had killed a single snakehead. They say that the poison "won't harm other animals"- but the lack of fish sure will! :(

Hi Cody. I just spent the last hour surfing the net about this fascinating but dangerous fish. Prior to your post, I had no idea such predators exist in our native waters. Thanks for the heads up.

Me too, it sounds impossible that something like that would be here.  It turns out that it was not a Snakehead though:

Apparently it is a Bowfin which is native to the Welland Canal.
