This morning I went birding along the Dofasco Trail between 10th/11th
Side Roads in Saltfleet and Powerline Rd. between 5th & 4th Side
Roads.
I saw a total of 27 species this morning in Saltfleet.
At 10th Side Road along the Dofasco Trail:
Eastern-wood Pewee
Downy Woodpeckers
Northern Flickers
Baltimore Orioles
Orchard Oriole
Indigo Bunting
European Starlings
Canada Geese (possible migrants)
Turkey Vultures
Red-tails
Northern Harrier
American Kestrel
Vesper Sparrows
Savannah Sparrows
Northern Mockingbirds
House Sparrow
American Goldfinch
House Finch
Killdeer
Mallard
Black-capped Chickadees
Alder Flycatcher
Willow Flycatcher
Barn Swallows
Eastern Kingbirds
There is no shorebird habitat here at the moment. There are very few
Swallows left.
Powerline Road:
Wild Turkeys
American Goldfinches
Barn Swallows
Tree Swallows
Cliff Swallows
Eastern Kingbirds
There is also no shorebird habitat here. The Swallows can be seen in
fairly large numbers on the power lines. The Wild Turkeys were in the
fields to the North (Lake Ontario) approximately halfway down the
road.
