I have heard and read about an area in High Park called 'the meadow'.  Does anyone know what part of the park this is?

Thanks,
Joe

I am intimately familiar with High Park. Have done volunteer work there for past 13 years and I can't say that there is an area commonly referred to as "the meadow". If I had to venture a guess I'd have to say what is commonly called the Tablelands as being closest to what a 'meadow' truly should be. It is immediately north of the Grenadier Restaurant and runs north to the playing fields between Centre and Colborne Rds, or perhaps E. opf Colborne between the tennis courts and the "Art" sculptures.  The only other area that might come to mind is a mown grass field in the S.E. 1/4 of the park between the Lower Duck Ponds and the 'zoo'. What is supposedly to be found in "the Meadow"?

From the blog description of the birds seen I would venture a guess that the "Meadow" is the area at the junction of Spring and Centre Roads east of the Grenedier Restaurant and north of the childrens playground. Never heard that name for it before though.

I agree with Norm. It is definitely near Spring Cr. The photo is taken from Spring Cr.Rd. towards the S.W. about half way down Spring Rd from the North ponds (nr. Bloor&Keele). This may mean the meadow would be near the Art Structures field if going north. South and east from the photo point there really isn't what I'd call a meadow (Savannah perhaps). It is in the area of the photo that the Pileated has been seen lately (Spring Cr. Rd. and west). Given some of the birds mentioned (Ckickadees and W.P.'s she could still be referring to the mown field west of the Playground, W. of the duck ponds. Hope that helps.
