Andy has given me permission to make this "Official Thread" dedicated to Van Wagner's & Area sightings.  Thanks Andy!

Post any sightings you have from Van Wagner's beach and area here.

Directions to Van Wagners Beach: Take the Centennial Parkway (Hwy.20)
exit from the QEW in east Hamilton and proceed north to the North
Service Rd., turn left and continue west as it turns into Van Wagners
Beach Road. Continue to the parking lots at either Hutch's Restaurant or
the Lakeland Centre viewing tower and view the lake anywhere near here.

As of 3:15PM this afternoon, there was a LAUGHING GULL in front of Hutch's Restaurant at Van Wagner's Beach.  No other information was given.

I suspect that the heavy rains pushed it on to shore from Lake Ontario.  Will post any future updates if available.

Somewhat strong 25KM/H winds are predicted here tomorrow.  I will most likely be here.  Should be good. Showers in the morning, clearing for the afternoon.

Cody, judging from ONTBIRDS you should have had a pretty good day out there today. Couldn't make it myself, so I am eagerly awaiting your report! :-)

Sorry Andreas, I couldn't go either :(   I would have gone from 1-5, so judging from the reports as of 5:20PM, I would have missed most of the highlights.  My scope doesn't have a cover, so I wouldn't want it to get broken by the rain.

My sudden absence of birding at Van Wagner's has been caused due to the fact that my tripod broke, and I can not afford a new one at the moment.   I will not be posting my sightings from Van Wagner's for the remainder of 2010,  although I look forward to birding here in the Fall of 2011. Will post many sightings from Beamer Hawk Watch starting in March :)
