Went out side to check on the grass seed I had just planted and noticed a Goldfinch fighting for position on my feeder, I wallked toward the feeder to get the offending Dove to get lost when I noticed this under the feeder...I think it is a white crowned sparrow. I snuck back into the house grabbed the camera and shot a few images.  gonna try a double  image post as well

thanx napper

I know what the second image is of

Sorry folks

In my haste  due to exitement I should have asked  "White crowned Gambel"?  sorry fot the inconvenience.

Since when do Mourning dovees eat Niger seeds??  I guess they will eat any seed... The Doves are getting kind of plump, my wife suggested a Barbeque.
I changed the feed ratio from 80 percent mixed  20 percent Niger to 80 percent Niger and 20 percent Mixed.  I still have a yard full of doves...

That is not a Gambel's, no.  It looks like a regular Eastern White-crowned to me.

Look, in particular, at the lores.  The loral region of the EWCS is black, as in your photo, whereas the loral region in the GWCS is lighter, even white.
