Today, around sunset, I spotted a buck on the east bank of the Humber near Albion Rd. and Weston Rd.  Later, I spotted 3 deer further north and a deer near Albion Rd. and the West Humber.

Yesterday afternoon, a buck and 2 other deer, just north of the East Humber and the 407.  Later at sunset, 3 deer in Rowntree Mills Park.

You certainly are lucky with deer sightings!
I've only had one sighting all year!

I've had luck with deer sightings at both Riverwood and the Humber Arboretum this year.  Must be very very quiet.

Humber Arboretum one Saturday morning last month...

I remember as a student at Erindale College (UTM), wanting to see deer...it wasn't until my fourth year that I saw them. A prof. once told me that they were walking around all over the place and often went unnoticed.

I see that now, around my home, that they are everywhere but you have to be both lucky and good at watching for them. It's just amazing how then can blend in.

When I take my daughter hiking around the woods, I point out deer scat and tell her that they are deer inukshuks (she's in grade one)...during the olympics (she was in kindergarten), her teacher asked the class if anyone knew what an inukshuk was...my baby shot her hand up and looked around amazed that she was the only one that knew....the teacher called out her name and she proudly answered "deer poo poo" ! When we asked her what her teacher said, the poor baby, completely unaware that her answer was wrong, said "Well she kinda made a funny face and said not quite" -- (complete with intonation)...my wife and I laughed...later on when I spoke to the teacher, to clear my baby's name, I told the teacher why our daughter gave that answer...and then asked why the teacher did not correct her...the teacher replied that she thought that maybe there was a special name for deer scat that sounded like inukshuk...lol...

It's a combination of knowing where to look, luck, how long you walk for, season, and time of day(early morning, late afternoon and sunset).  Certainly, the upper Humber area(north of the 401, Humber College) has more deer than the lower Humber area(Lambton Woods, etc.) and a much better chance to see deer.  Start from the 401 and go north and your chance of seeing deer increases.  Also, the Claireville Conservation Area is one of the best areas in the Toronto area to see deer and I have seen deer 85-90% of the time that I've walked there.

I dunno I think luck plays a big role...I remember a late spring day in 2009 when I saw over 50 deer cross my property...but they drifted like mist in small groups...if I didn't catch sight of one group I probably would have missed the rest....it was around 2 in the afternoon...

It does, but you have a higher chance of seeing deer where there is a larger population.  For example, the deer population along the Humber River is much larger north of the 401 than south of it.

I was talking with a local farmer the other day....in the past few years, the farmers have been bitching about the large deer population....and now they're blaming the coyotes for a smaller deer population....myself, seems the same size to me.
