I birded the wooded areas west of the parking lot near the base of the spit this morning.

I've never see so many white-throated sparrows. Must have been hundreds. It sometimes got to the point that they were distracting you from finding other birds. There were also a large number of yellow-rumped warblers, about twenty or so. The more interesting observations I had were:

Rose-breasted grosbeak
Eastern kingbird
White-crowned sparrow (2)
Palm warbler
Blue-gray gnatcatcher (3)
Brown trasher (2)
Field sparrow
House wren (lots)
Iceland gull (1st summer, at the SE tip of the spit)

PS. No sighting of the yellow-headed blackbird or Forster's tern
