Left the house at 8:30am today and I could see a bird, size of a mourning dove standing in the snow on the greenbelt across the road. I stopped the car and got a good look for about 15 secs. before it flew up into a tree. I've checked in Kaufman and I'm pretty sure it was a juvenile sharp-shinned hawk, judging by size, colour and tail bands. Never seen a hawk so close to the ground before.
